Week 16

Steadily and inevitably, Building EA is disappearing behind the scaffolding and formwork for the Multi-Purpose Building.

The Level 1 (south) slab - along with its structural columns and blade walls - has been stripped of its formwork.

Twenty four hours after the slab was poured, the cast-in cables were initially tensioned by 10%. Now, 5 days later, the remaining tension force is applied to each of the "live" ends.

The principle whereby the cable is tensioned and then wedged within the cast-in block is described in the image above.
